Not long now until our Festival, and we are all getting very excited and checking lots of lists! We are once again supporting the Ukulele Kids Charity UK, everyone was so generous and supportive last year and we raised an amazing amount, we hope to do just as well this year!!
Another exciting piece of news is that we have a concert ukulele signed by, wait for it,…………… THE UKULELE ORCHESTRA OF GREAT BRITIAN!!!! to raffle on the day, so make sure you get your tickets folks! As of last year we have two amazing food vendors, along with Noah Ukuleles, and the Music Trading Company, as well as all the other festival paraphernalia and of course Ice Cream, no festival would be the same without it! Recently we were told we are listed on the best ukulele festivals 2017 in ukulele music info.
Don’t forget to download the Big Busk Book from the website, copies will be for sale on the day if not, and start digging out your Threads for our 1967 theme, we are expecting a very colourful day! If anyone is unsure of the details of our free entrance festival it is being held at the Cinque Ports Pub in Rye on Saturday 8th July from 11am, be there or be square!
Here we are after playing at the RSPCA Open Day event recently in Hastings, great day there, next stop Festival, Yaay!!
Only two weeks to go now and things are hotting up at festival HQ!
Although we have a larger number of seats than last year if you have any portable picnic chairs and or tables it would be a good idea to bring them to ensure you get seats. The grassed area in front of the stage will be set aside for seating on picnic blankets for people who want to bring them
There will be bar areas set up along with a gourmet food truck, wood fired pizza and an ice cream van, There will also be two ukulele stalls.
If you wanted to perform this year at the festival but we were full when you applied, don’t forget our open mic from about 6pm, you can register on arrival and it will run on a first come first served basis.
Also, just a reminder – if you are able to donate any preloved/new instruments/tuners to the Ukulele Kids Club UK bring them along on the day and we will make sure they get there and they know who donated them.
So Tune your Ukes, Dust off your Hawaiian outfits and get your satnav, map or whatever you use! ready to come and join us for a fun day and don’t forget to keep those fingers and toes crossed for sunny weather!
Pam, Graham and Justine, three of our members, are just back from the Big Busk at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain in Imperial Gardens, Cheltenham.
“ We met over 1,000 uke players from all over the world to play from this years songbook. It was a wonderful weekend, with lots of jamming and a chance to pick up some new skills at the various workshops. We also watched an amazing variety of well-known performers from around the globe including The Mother Ukers, Craig Chee, Tomoko Sato, the phenomenal Taimane and the hilarious Hot Potato Syncopators. There was a lot of Haloah-ing going on!”
