We are looking forward to playing at the RSPCA, Bluebell Ridge, Chowns Hill on Sunday at their Spring Fair. A perfect day out for all the family with a variety of stalls, including raffles, homemade cakes, books, toys and much more. The Cattery is also open for you to meet the resident cats who are looking forward to seeing some friendly new faces. This is one of our favourite charities which we love to support, would be great to see you there!
What a great day we had last Saturday at St Michaels Hospice Fabulous Vintage Fair, lots of great stalls and events if you have never been we would strongly advise you to make sure you go next year, a really lovely day for a fabulous charity. Here we are playing under a beautiful sky in the open countryside at the Hub at Bodiam, couldn’t have been better!
We had a busy April, playing at another two venues, the first was at Iden’s Ship to Shore Variety show where the Experiment played the matinee and evening performances. The audience joined us singing along with a selection of sea inspired songs and sea shanties!
We followed this by playing at the Heffle Cuckoo Fair at Heathfield a Fair held to raise funds for Demelza Children’s Charity, a really well attended fair with lots of interesting stalls and various events.
We had a great time at all of the April venues we played at and are busy rehearsing ready for our next venue which is the RSPCA Open Day on 28th May at Bluebell Hill in Hastings, check out our What’s On page for future events, looking forward to seeing you there!
What a great afternoon we had in East Farleigh on Saturday, here we are after our set. Thank you for inviting us Caramellos!
In 2016, we played at over 20 events……fairs, festivals, fetes, and open days. The charities we supported included The Music Well, St Michaels Hospice, Dementia Awareness, Sue Ryder, The Sara Lee Trust and the RSPCA. In addition, we independently raised £245.24 for St Michaels Hospice, and £873.64 for The Ukulele Kids Club UK. We met many new friends and had lots of fun along the way!
Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported us and put coins (and notes!) into our buckets. Let’s see if we can improve on that in 2017!
We wanted to share with you a lovely letter we received from Maria from the Sara Lee Trust. We had great fun and are looking forward to the next time!
Dear Justine and all the members of the Rye Ukulele Experiment,
Huge thanks for donating your time to play at our Christmas Fair on Saturday, it was so wonderful to have your fantastic music during the day, it completely lifted the atmosphere and we have received lovely feedback from all who attended on how much they enjoyed it.
We raised an incredible £2,646.12 from the Fair and Raffle which will be used to provide essential care and support services to local people living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
On behalf of everyone at the Trust, thanks once again – we really hope you enjoyed being part of the Fair and would love to see you all next year, to do it all over again.
With very best wishes,
Maria, Nikki and everyone at The Sara Lee Trust
We dusted off our jingle bells and raided our wardrobes for red things, and got into the mood at The Sara Lee Trust Christmas Fair, held in the beautiful church of St John the Evangelist, St Leonards. This wonderful charity raises funds to help families and people affected by cancer. There was a warm and friendly atmosphere and lots of people, and we were joined for a while by Tony, a uke player visiting from The Isle of Wight. Nice to meet you Tony!
We are delighted to be providing lots of seasonal songs in support of The Sarah Lee Christmas Fair this coming Saturday. There will be great festive shopping with lots of stalls, including gifts, delicious refreshments and children’s crafts, also a grand Christmas Raffle and a visit from Father Christmas!
The event will be held at St. John’s Church, Pevensey Road, St Leonards-on-Sea,TN38 0RD, Look forward to seeing you there!
