We are looking forward to playing at the RSPCA, Bluebell Ridge, Chowns Hill on Sunday at their Spring Fair. A perfect day out for all the family with a variety of stalls, including raffles, homemade cakes, books, toys and much more. The Cattery is also open for you to meet the resident cats who are looking forward to seeing some friendly new faces. This is one of our favourite charities which we love to support, would be great to see you there!
In 2016, we played at over 20 events……fairs, festivals, fetes, and open days. The charities we supported included The Music Well, St Michaels Hospice, Dementia Awareness, Sue Ryder, The Sara Lee Trust and the RSPCA. In addition, we independently raised £245.24 for St Michaels Hospice, and £873.64 for The Ukulele Kids Club UK. We met many new friends and had lots of fun along the way!
Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported us and put coins (and notes!) into our buckets. Let’s see if we can improve on that in 2017!
Thanks St Michael’s Hospice organisers for including us at your fabulous vintage fair last Saturday. The sun shone and the crowds arrived and, just like Glastonbury and Reading, the mud did not spoil the day.
The line up included Bob, Graham, Lorna, Justine, Pam and Ali.
Don’t forget to invite us next year, some of us have a taste for vintage now.
Thanks to Battle Photographic Club for their images
This weekend the Rye Ukulele Orchestra will be appearing at the Fabulously Vintage Fair. Come along and watch us from 2pm-3pm on Saturday 19th September.
The venue is The Mad Hatters Fancy Dress, Ockham Oast House, Staplecross Road, Bodiam TN32 5RA.
A great day for a great cause.
The Rye Ukulele Orchestra made it to the Camber fun day with just moments to spare due to an 18 mile detour through the country lanes of East Sussex and Kent. The fabulous weather saw thousands of visitors on the roads from Rye to Camber but luckily, with our MD Ian’s local knowledge, we were able to find an alternative route.
Thanks so much to the organisers of the fun day for finding us a parking space – we had a great time with a small but very appreciative audience!
There’s something about Pimms in the garden on a perfect July afternoon! One of our favourite locations at Little Orchard House and a very supportive audience made last Saturday’s gig ideal. Thanks to Nikky and Andy for their hospitality and providing the ‘singing cat’.
Join us tomorrow (Saturday July 17th) at Little Orchard House in West Street, Rye for a fabulous day of musical entertainment. A perfect garden set in the heart of the ancient town of Rye is the venue and the Rye Ukulele Experiment will be playing for an hour from 2pm. Other singers and musicians will also be performing throughout the day to support The Wishing Well.
The event runs from 11am till 4pm and costs £3 entry. Look forward to seeing you there.
What a great afternoon we had at the Sue Ryder garden party on Saturday. The sun shone right down on us in Rae Festing’s fabulous garden in the High Street, Rye. Don’t know about a Beautiful Sunday, but it was certainly a fantastic Saturday! Lots of money was raised for the charity as well.
Well the dust has finally settled after the festival and as soon as we got our breath we were back ‘on stage’ last weekend at the Rye Hospital Fete. A bright a very breezy day saw music flying everywhere (skirts too). This was the first of many summer bookings in our calendar and we are delighted we could contribute to such a worthwhile event. Thanks to the fund raisers at the Memorial Hospital. Our next outing is the Sue Ryder Fete at 10 High Street Rye on 11th July. Look forward to seeing you all then.
NEWCHURCH VILLAGE FETE
This Saturday, the 30th August sees the Rye Ukulele Experiment performing at Newchurch Village Fete. The group will play from 1.30pm – followed by a Ukulele workshop for anyone who fancies trying their hand. Then 3.30pm (approx.) will see us back again to play the fete out. We are crossing everything for decent weather.
RYE MARITIME FESTIVAL
Sunday 31st of August and we’ll be down at Strand Quay, Rye playing waterside (towards St Margaret’s Terrace) from around 3pm. The Rye Maritime Festival will be in full swing with loads of decent music and fun stuff to see and do.
